I'll know more when I've given it a good drive, like to work tomorrow (had to take the Volvo today to get garage floor tiles from the cash & carry!)

Whoa, yes, huge difference!
Especially on acceleration & top end. I kicked off a roundabout this afternoon and it flew straight up to 80mph, no trouble! Plus, with the coils, I no longer have to fear potholes - even the three consecutive bumps down the lane that have always shaken my spine are no worry any more. Very happy with the suspension!
The engine needs a bit of tweaking yet to get it spot on; there's an intermittent misfire under certain conditions, probably just timing or advance, but there can't be a lot wrong for it to fly the way it did!

I don't really know how fast Skye will go, I ran out of speedo! Following a Passat along the dual carriageway last week the needle was firmly up against the stop...

I eventually got round to fitting the GAZ shocks all round, and very good they are too. Had to set them fairly soft on the back as it was really harsh - boneshaking - set in the middle! And the front nearside snapped the bolt that goes through the top arm. Of course the remains had seized solid in the arm and I ended up having to swap the arm... I'm fitting stainless seam covers, which will fit in with the rest of the chrome. I need to get stainless bumpers, as the chrome rusts every winter when the salt hits. And speaking of winter, I'm running Hankook Winter Icept on the front now, recalling how bad the Yokos were last year! Oh, and one more thing... keep an eye on the next British Mini Club magazine...

Have you got a feature in there on one of your fleet? I'thinking of not renewing the BMC membership now they have done away with their forum.

The BMC membership gives me a huge discount on my insurance with Footman James - the only reason I joined it in the first place. I didn't realise they'd scrapped the forum - not been on there for a while. I do know that it can be a pain running a forum when the spammers decide it's worth a punt - the LE register gets about 10 attempted spammer signups a day, so we've set them all to admin authorise. We just delete the accounts - you can tell a spammer account at a glance.
And yes, Skye is to be featured in the mag!

I'm not a member of the BMC so will have to try and get a copy of the mag to see the article. Any chance of a scan

I got the BMC mag the other day. Good article and nice photo. well done. Sadly I won't be renewing our membership this time as they have removed the forum and I hate facebook and twitter.

I did a pre-MOT check on Skye today as, for once , it wasn't raining! It was't too good.
I found that the red bulbs in the rear lights are not properly red, the orange bulbs in the front indicators also need a repaint (I have some orange bulb paint), the exhaust is blowing where the LCB meets the Y-piece, the front ball joints need reshimming both sides, need a new nearside track rod end. But the real problem is the hole in the offside side and front floor.
As ever it's all due to oversills having been fitted by a previous owner, and the welds not having been painted inside. But bizarrely on the offside sill, the original vertical section of sill was left in place and the new panel joined on at the bend! And it's the original section that has rusted through of course.
By this point it was starting to rain, so I rearranged the garage and put 3/4 of the car inside. I know the whole sill really needs replacing, but I don't have one in stock, and I have to get an MOT within a week. And I know I will end up having to do serious work on inner sill repairs too, and I don't have space in the garage right now, so I decided to weld a patch into the sill for now, and another in the floor. It's taken most of the afternoon, so the ball joints will have to be done tomorrow - I keep those in stock anyway. And the exhaust of course.
