Thats Great Martin Are there any other specialist tools that are specific to the auto you plan on Re-Manufacturing? Id love for Our Members to be in the position where they could purchase all tools required for a rebuild One thing Ive wondered about is a Repair/Workshop manual? Who Owns the rights to re issue these again? As Rover and Automotive Products are no more is it Nanjing Automobile or Delphi who owns the rights to such a Manual if we wanted to get them reprinted? I'm guessing however if somebody Hint,Hint carried out a full strip and rebuild with comprehensive photographs and instructions that would make it their workshop manual and they would have the right to print it Just Thinking out loud really ;D By the way the T.C. Puller looks excellent and of very high quality Jodie

Hi Jodie, We are in the process of stripping and rebuilding whilst photographing as we go........ Our plan is to re-manufacture all tools for the auto tranmission, to enable anyone with our "book" and tooling to be able to perform a full rebuild Thanks Regards Martin & Debbie MRA Minis

Hi Minisniper, The rights are owned by BMH, however only if it is a direct copy, I am in the process of manufacturing tools that have a lot of "upgrades" to improve them over the Rover tooling...... and the manual will have my notes and my photo's therefore I will hold the rights to my design and layout, photo's etc Regards Martin & Debbie MRA Minis

This is excellent. I'm sure the Japanese market would be interested in some of the things you are making. I'll also look through my manuals and see what other special tools their have been for auto's in the past. 998auto

Try this link www.mra-minis.co.uk/search.php?q=18G1086&search_cat_filter=2&search-submit=Search+%BB&detailed=1I have told everyone a long time ago about copyrights. The answers I received from proper authorities (i.e. BMH) are the same. They will allow me (or you) to copy and distribute provided you include a note about the source and you do not make a profit. So one can copy, as I plan to on CD, and distribute to all you people for the cost of postage, materials and packaging. I still have to scan them but I have three automatic shop books I plan to distribute on one CD.

Hi Martin,
I was wondering how all this was coming along? I might be facing a rebuild sometime in the future, and i'd hate to have to send my gearbox to england.. it would help me loads... I was also wondering if you'd had a chance to remanufacture a batch of torque converter pullers as I would need one rather urgently,
thanks for letting me know,
Max

We have them back in stock, however not through the website....
They are the same price at the moment, but postage will vary due to location.
We have changed the design to "beef it up" a little.

I recently got one from Martin. Worked like a charm on two converters. Sounds like something breaks when it comes loose. Those things are on there tight.

What ever happened to Churchill tools ,Martin ?. They sort of got bought out and closed down when Rover died... But the facts are very hazy and nobody I know seems to know for sure, ever those involved at the time seem to suggest they just vanished overnight... I wish I had some of the drawings though

I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com Clutch pack seal tool, this when used correctly will avoid the issue of a "folded" lip seal, I see a lot of "recently overhauled AP2's with this faut. Attachments:

That's an early one, it has the 18G1086 (A) "A" being the first or second iteration, part numbers where sometimes hard to confirm with BMC etc, later ones have (B) and the 3 hex headed bolts should be retained by little metal spring clips, similar to the one found in the filter canister on the bolt, although some just had rubber O rings.
VLC = VL Churchill

Considering that I have now pulled mine 4 times, it would have been nice to have the real thing. They are really on there. Pops about 2 feet across the floor when it gives. This is my home made one. Attachments:

Omg, thats a serious bit of kit Richard, i would be concerned about buckling the t/c, but as youve used it 4 times with no problems its not an issue, plus it could be used for pulling hubs too .

Considering that I have now pulled mine 4 times, it would have been nice to have the real thing. They are really on there. Pops about 2 feet across the floor when it gives. This is my home made one. Richard, the reason it flies is because of stored energy, ie deformation of the converter, I would be worried about distortion causing it to run out of balance and create a fretting action on the crank tail. Yes I know I have an ulterior motive as I make the current 18G1086, however, using a puller on the outside could easily turn into a cash cow for some one selling cranks and converters.... of which I have quite a few Just a thought, try winding a DTi onto the outer edge to see how much distortion you get.

This is another of my homemade tools, (sorry Martin), made from 3x steels seam welded together onto a flat jemmy bar. Lucky my old dad used to he a hgv mechanic as the nut size was huge. Didnt have a socket to match it to my torque wrench. .
