Still no more progress on Joyce to report. Her bodywork is going to have to wait until next year. Work is manic and this seems to drain my enthusiasm when I do get a little time. Had to get her out of the garage to get at something the other day only to find the battery as flat as a pancake. This did spark me into life. I jump started her off our other car and took her for a spin. In the course of this lost a bit of chrome/plastic trim off the sills/door step (bumpy lanes). Ordered a replacement and Old Skool Minis sent two by mistake - when I let them know they told me to keep the second one as a spare I think the battery may need replacing. It's always turned the car over quite slowly (she fires really quickly so it's not mattered much). When I connected the jump leads it turned over really quickly, so I suspect the battery is dud. The battery connections are tight so it's not that. Hoping to put the trim on, wash and polish this week - weather permitting. Will also look at the battery again.

Joyce is a prisoner in her own home Late last week one of our neighbours decided to see if our garage door was harder than his Smart car. Don't ask! He struck the door on the lock mechanism, bending it somewhat and the door no longer opens. It's bent and twisted too - looks like a new garage door. We are waiting for the insurance companies to sort themselves out. He has also done a fair bit of damage to his car. I've fitted the replacement trim but haven't been able to get her out for a wash and polish. Looks like the battery is kaput, I need to get her out of the garage to be able to get into the boot and replace it.

MOT time again! Just failed on uneven rear brakes. Two new cylinders fitted. Discovered shoes had been fitted wrong way round. Carb adjusted to get through emissions and then reset to help engine run better. Had a leak in the bypass hose, fixed that and spotted radiator was looking worse for wear so fitted a new one of them too. And another oil/filter change. All good now

Been too busy with work to do much on Joyce this year. MOT'ed her and drove her a bit over the summer. Made it to one local show.
All been good until today. Went to start her and she sounded like a tank! The exhaust manifold had snapped just above the clamp that connects the exhaust and manifold. Spent the rest of the day tracking down a replacement manifold.
I'll see if I can get a picture of the broken one.
