My daughter Linzie, who's 18, is due to fly out to Australia in a couple of weeks with a charity to do some conservation work near Melbourne followed by some sightseeing in Sydney. Both my older children have done this trip in the past.
With less than three weeks to go, the charity has folded leaving her and around 30 other teenagers in the lurch. These are highly-motivated kids who have each raised over £3000 to fund the trip, and in the last few days they have met to discover that although their airline tickets are paid for, nothing else is. They are, however, still determined to make the trip go ahead. They are working with CVA to make the conservation happen, but other aspects of the trip are still up in the air.
One of the things they were to do and would still like to do, was to visit a hospital for children with cancer. We were wondering if any of you in or around Melbourne or Sydney might be able to help facilitate such a visit?
Similarly they no longer have anything organised for the sightseeing in Sydney - they were to have done the bridge climb among other things but this has not been paid, so it may not be possible. If anyone has any ideas or is in a position to help, we'd love to hear from you!
