This was posted yesterday by Joloke and for some odd reason it was deleted? or the system had a glitch, anyway here it is again.
Hi
Some of you may or may not know but Ofcom the Regulatory body for Radio Communications here in the UK have recently had a huge chunk of the VHF band returned to them after a lot of services have migrated frequencies due to modern technologies now available to them. Taxi's,Emergency services etc now often use computerized systems and no longer have any need for VHF voice communications hence why a whopping 26mhz worth of bandwidth has been returned to Ofcom and one of their proposals is to allocate a portion of that to the general public for a VHF Citizens Band service k
Its ours if we want it,I know I do
But we need to ask for this!
To ask is free all you have to do is fill out a simple online response form, people power the more of us that do this the greater the chance we will get this!
But lets not be greedy, what we really want is a service that echos what we have already but on a wavelength that lends itself to clearer higher quality transmissions
VHF is amazing we only really need about 5 watts, maybe 10 watts maximum.
40 Channels around 12.5khz apart from each other will only take up a measly 500khz still leaving Ofcom with 25.5 mhz off free space to play around with
And antenna's for VHF are very small often only 1 meter in length
On the form their are questions regarding their agreed approach to the allocations processes, just simple yes or no will do there
Its in the Additional Comments box you want to lay out a clear and concise argument for VHF CB Radio
A clear and concise argument for a crystal clear Citizens Band System with nice compact sized antenna systems with greater distance capabilities that our current HF system
The Current 27mhz system will remain don't worry this will be an extra CB Band in addition to what we already have
Please help this cause it could benefit us all,yes old fashioned CB Radio on 27mhz is great and I wouldn't be without it but the more bands we have at our disposal the better the scope
Please support this........................

This is Ofcom Proposals Document

And the one below is how to reply to request a VHF CB System
stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/vhf-143-169mhz/howtorespond/form
Please note you have to actually tell them in the additional comments you want VHF CB
Thanks for listening Guyz it in our hands we can have this if we want it?
They have to consider it if enough people ask
So please ask, tell your friends to fill this out and lets make this happen and lets get chatting
