Yes, just be alot slower. As for your other issue, i seem to remember somewhere it being related to a damaged sprag (one way) clutch, although at the moment i cant find any proof of this. Martin?.

Top gear has been slipping on me for 12 years so I just shift manually. Often times I just use 3 and 4 unless I need to accelerate faster. I rarely use 1st. Mark

Hi Mark, when you say top gear is slipping, do you mean its slipping while in 4th or the change from 3rd to 4th (flare). Is this on your ado?. Terry.

Martin?. 1 st gear not driving is 99% related to sprag clutch or sprag clutch housing, ie the special bolt hasn't been fitted or has fallen out is the first thing to look at here.

Is it ok for me to take off in 2nd gear in my auto mini for now as 1st gear is currently having problems? Cheers Hi, My minimatic has been doing this for about 6 months now. 1st gear doesn't work, and I've just been starting in 2nd and being "gentle". It appears to still be fine. As Martin said, I have also been advised its the 1st gear sprag clutch that is the culprit. Once finances are a bit better I intend to get this fixed. But 6 months on, and still no dramas with taking off in 2nd gear. Cheers

I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com
.... and if you put it under too much load it will try to change down to 1st gear, which will result in an interesting drive..
PS. I have sprag (one way) clutches in stock, good 2nd hand and gaskets & seals as well...
