The time has once again come around for the British Car Day in Bronte park Oakville, Ontario. This is another year where I've watched the weather report and it predicts rain. I'm not too worried though. This event has not ever been rained on in the past 32 years. Mortimer is in pieces right now as I'm in the throws of rebuilding the brake master and the entire right wheel assembly. The wheel nut was too loose and caused the splines and bearings to break down. I have posted here because this meet will see about 100 minis/MINIs combined plus over 900 other makes of British vehicles. It is great fun and I will be attending it for the 11th time. Of course, this will depend on my ability to get the present rebuild job done. If you want to know more, here is the official website: British Car Day 2016Cheers, Mark

Well another year and another perfect day! Temperatures reached 27 C and there was a light wind with a few cloudy periods. Once again the count was around 1,000+ entries. If I get an actual number I'll post it. There were 57 categories and 166 awards given out. The walk around to see all of the cars and place my choices for 57 classes took me well over two hours. Awards are based on votes from other participants only. I like this because you don't get the influences of the general public that vote based on 'cute' etc. It's more like condition, rarity and uniqueness. This is my 12th year in attendance. The best I have done personally is 3rd place in 2011 and again in 2014. This year 1st place in my class went to a mint Morris Minor 'woody' which was parked back to back with my Mortimer. Turns out, the owner knows many of my 1st cousins. For anyone interested in results, here is a link: BCD 2016 AwardsI am always placed in class XX Production Sedans 1960 onwards, Austin, Ford,Morris, Rovereven though I always park at the end of one of three Mini rows. Susan (my wife of 42 yrs.as of Sept.14, 2016) was well educated on peoples' ownership histories and internal works as she babysat Morty while I was away voting. She enjoyed all the stories and 'unique' personalities but hardly got any of her crocheting done. I will try posting some pictures or a link for some later. We are both looking forward to next year. Mark
