Hi there, we have recently purchased a 1982 Allegro estate HL Auto, which shares the AP gearbox with the Minis. This forum looks like an excellent resource for these gearboxes, looking forward to bringing ours up to scratch. First step is to drop the Halfords classic 20W50 and get some MA2 10W40 in there to improve the change. Other than that, it drives perfectly.

Hi Doive. Welcome to the forum. Lovely looking Allegro you have there. Has it been recently restored?

Hi Doive, and welcome to the register. I think i saw your allegro for sale recently as i,m always keeping an eye on all things A.p. My brother had a blue auto estate back in the late 80,s. I seem to rememeber it having a squarish steering wheel!, hs yours. They are a unique and quirky shape car and definately individual. How is the gearbox?, whats the mileage?. It does look a minter. They key to keeping these in tip top shape really is correct oil, regular oil changes (even if you dont do many miles), and to warm up before ragging around ,if thats your thing. They do get bad press, mainly due to bad maintainance. Regards Terry.
