Possibly stupid question time...
On a 'normal' spin on oil filter engine I always pre-fill the filter with oil before fitting.
Obviously you cannot fill the horizontal canister on the auto mini but should you pre-soak the filter or anything like that? Or just fit the new filter & canister etc dry?
As for then refilling with oil is there a rough guide on how much to put in, time to run the engine for (to fill the canister) and then top up etc?

I personally would,nt pre-soak your filter, if you have concerns about running with a dry filter, after you do your service spin your engine over without the plugs in and the coil lead removed.

With the right oil (10W-40) it will fill up very quickly, as you have tremendous oil flow going to it (later some diverted to the trans) and the rest restricted. Don't worry about it. Trying to pre-wet it would make a mess and just risk catching more dirt as you put it in. Most important is a torque wrench to tighten correctly and not ruin your canister.
I have found the best reading of oil level about 15 minutes after shutting off the engine. Everything needs to settle and drain for the right level. It is easy to overfill if you check too soon.
