In my experience Facebook has become the death of forum's, I am a member of various forums and as soon as a Facebook group was opened the forums began to die which is why we don't want one for this forum. The forum has being going for a number of years against all the odds, even some magazines said it wouldn't last more than a year or 2 but we have proved them wrong. So thanks for asking but I don't believe it would enhance the forum in anyway.

Oops, I wrote a reply and managed to delete my original post, which I didnt even realise was possible! This forum does have some good historical info but IMO I think it's already pretty dead I am going to create a group but will not link it to this forum.

That's fine by me so long as there is no connection in name or otherwise to this forum you can feel free to start your own group but we on this forum will not promote any Facebook group not just yours. As for being dead I think you will find that it is a lot slower than forums that may have thousands of members but you have to remember that Automatic minis are scarce and so are the owners. Good luck

With all things considered, this forum has as much traffic as anyone would have for only 800 members. And not all members are active or still tuning in. We are having the same attitudes on our Google 1100 site. It only has a couple hundred members. Lately, someone (still a member) has decided to try hijacking our people over to their site claiming it is much more informative and has a stronger member following. So what... ask me if I care?

I have started a group, I have absolutely no interest in hijacking/stealing any members, it is just that a group, its not a club, it wont hold any events etc, it is just a useful online resourse and I believe it does have a place, I still believe it's a good additional resource for a forum but thats your wish not to be connected to it and thats understandable.
As for the forum being dead, I dont think traffic/views really count, it's interaction thats needed, I posted a thread on changing an oil filter, something that every member should either know about or want to know about and in 2 weeks only 1 person replied. Facebook is far better suited for quicker replies to question but doesnt come close to threaded conversations on forums for build logs etc, they are different tools and shouldn't be looked at as competition.
I'll continue to use both platforms and hope to see you on there some time in the future.

Yep, FB killed the mini pickup site. I still tune in here every few days when I get a chance to see if anyone needs anything I can help with. The trouble I have with FB is there is so much stuff, and advertising, that I rarely dig down and end up missing stuff.

I can't speak for the rest of you but, for me, FB bogs down my computer. If I look at the rotating 'download' circle, it never stops.

Having just turned 50, I consider myself to be far too old for Facebook so I'll stay on here with the other old farts!
