In November of last year, I had a disappointing accident. All the years of his life, Mortimer has never been damaged. He is/was totally original. Well, 47 1/2 years went by the wayside. It had just started to rain and the road was just damp. A full size pickup truck came to a sudden stop in front of me. My rear wheels locked up and I just glided right into its trailer hitch and rear bumper. $1,000+ CAD later and he looks pretty good thanks to my bud at the body shop and hard work on my part too. Hood, left fender, headlight and grill were all damaged. But, I'm proud to say that Morty is all ready for my annual 300+ mile trip to Micro North. Paint was a huge issue but not what you might think. Colour is spot on but the shine is off. Today's new 'environment friendly' paint is base coat-clear coat. The shop had to play with the clear coat to 'dull' it down. This made it easier to buff until it matched the 48 year old paint's shine.
He has a few minor details to work out for this Saturday's journey but nothing I can't handle; polish and shine, vacuum, wash down the engine and finish installing my unique horn. It's original but I tuned it differently. Now it is totally signature sounding.
I will post photos and/or link when I return.
Happy motoring! Mark

Hi Mark. Glad to see that Mortimer, is back in great shape and hope you were not I turned in the accident. The last time I visited - what used to be called The Heritage Motor Museum, I noted a beautiful 1300 automatic in blue, fantastic car! All the best.

I wasn't harmed at all. Contact speed was only about 5-10 MPH. Would I ever love to see the museum and, of course, this 1300. Morty's a real head turner and the compliments are always flying. His personal plate attracts even more attention.
