So finished my rebuild - never driven a mini auto before and noticed that without using kickdown if I accelerate a bit (fraction) too quickly it will downshift for a second then upshift. Is this a characteristic that I have to get used to or is there something that can be done to reduce the sensitivity ?
It is not the kickdown as I have tried it with this disconnected.
Love it to bits otherwise !

What are you doing with the kickdown rod when it is disconnected?

After a two year stand still I have to re-animate my Mini Matic also and I wonder what effect it will have that the box has been standing without oil in the sump for that long? I think that the oil has seeped away from the labyrinth and that there is now air where should be oil. Will the labyrinth get rid off the air by itself? And how long wil it take that and what will be my experiences during the time that the air is evacuated by the oil from the system? And; is this what you experience now what i have to expect when I drive my car again?

Kick-down just disconnected and left loose. Not sure about the air theory - will it 'self-bleed' in time? Thanks

Personally, I would not just let it hang. You are best off to go thru the alignment procedure for the kick down linkage. It is quick and easy. Biggest tear down error is to have this linkage inverted when you reassemble the box. You might want to check that too. Do you have a manual to follow? If not, go to this link How to/ Manuals and download one. Mark
