Hey all.
Just wanted to give you a bit of info I figured out on my jap spec AP2.
I was having a low pressure issue where the engine oil pressure lamp would come on after the car warmed up and with any range selected (out of park and neutral).
After much chagrin and twice pulling the engine and trans, I found the main pressure regualtor valve had a plugged orifice in the centre of the valve. Cleaned it out and reassembled and installed, and no more issues.
Just thought I should share, as it seems more often than not people never post the solution to their problems.

Think I'll check mine too. I have a pressure gauge and it can say 70 psi and the light will come on if idling in any gear. Mind you, after resetting my points gap and getting the proper dwell, it doesn't come on as easily. Can't figure that one out.

Do you have any pictures of what you cleaned? I have my motor out and on the bench, seems like I may as well check with it sitting here.
Thanks!

I have attached two photos I took when I found out what was going on. The jap spec valve body is different from the U.K. version, but the main regulator valve should be the same. Attachments:
