This build has gone on so long I have forgotten a Few things. Could someone please tell me whether there are three rubber rings on the input gear? There are three grooves but I don’t know with any rubber rings seal on those grooves. I will include a picture Also I have a leftover needle bearings and spaces now I can’t remember whether they are from another box that I split or I have forgotten to put them in the assembly I’ve included this picture out of the manual but it does not make sense to me where 8 and 9 go....

I know the feeling, there was a 3 year gap from when i stripped mine down to rebuild. Indeed the 3x grooves do all take a large o ring, i do remember thinking the one on the end of shaft seemed a poor fit. Will check my manuals later for your needle bearing issue, i,m sure there was one in centre and one on end. The biggest problem i had was getting all the gear train back in, as it would stop 10mm from flush.

Thanks Limby. I have figured out the needle bearing . 1 thin spacer then the bearing then the stepped spacer is needed for my 1300 auto . Once the forward output shaft is inserted it allowed the main gear train unit to slide in no worries . The last 10mm was gotten by wiggling the output shaft gear with my left hand and rotating the main assembly .... I think this assists aligning the last of friction plates inside the main gear and voila , it clicked in .

Yes I have put all new seals and flushed the valve block etc. had the bands redone and new clutch plates. The case was fully washed and degreased . Looks mint . Looking forward to getting the engine running . Bored it to 1293 and ported the 12g940 head 😉

Yes nice clean case, first case I have seen with the oil catcher for the idle gear needle rollers, early cases didn't have one and wore their thrust faces. The photo of the clutch seems a little odd, are the levers in the right way? been a while since I did one, I could be wrong. Jock

I don’t seem to have any spare rubber rings in my rebuild kit . Can I confirm this gear has 3 RIngs attached ?
