Hi,
I joined the Forum a while ago but don't know if I ever posted anything.
I disabled a bit and restricted to automatic transmission and semi-automatic.
I'm looking for an automatic classic mini.
I have 5k in my mini fund to buy the mini. I'm looking for a round knows saloon without sun roof.
I'm hoping from the forum to find out about tuning automatic minis and general repair and maintenance and meet like minded mini fans.
If anyone can help me find a half decent auto mini with in my budget, I would really appreciate the help and support. I'm also looking for Cibie Oscar's with concave lenses and type 22 Cibie concave headlights.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I hope everyone and their loved ones are safe and sound!
Stay safe
Thanks
R

Welcome to the Register, you have come to the right place as all of the members jump in and and help each other with questions and problems with their automatic Minis. Also, automatic Minis are usually lower in price and for the most part seem to come up for sale often enough.
Thanks for introducing yourself and mentioning your preferences for choosing an automatic Mini.

Hi
Is it true that it is best to use ma2 japo motorbike oil in an automatic mini?
I've seen this in several different places?
Any tips on tuning auto SPI or the benefits of a 3 plate forward clutch?
Cheers Mc

Thanks Martin, I been trying to find out about tuning my 1994 Japanese import SPI. I keep getting advised to do a carb conversion to open up tuning possibilities.
I have also been advised that the AP2 transmission "works" better on an injection.
Can you advise your thoughts on the above please?
So far I have been trying to get the mini running it's best in standard state.
I have replaced vac pipes, replaced most sensors, plugs, HT leads, k&n filter element, changed oil to Japo type.
Many Thanks
Ronnie

Welcome Ronnie, i know several of our members have physical limitation,s, some severe some not so, some like me just love automatics. Probably the majority of the members have just migrated from other mini groups (i know not all auto,s are mini,s)lol, where they cannot get the answers they need, or get sick of being told "convert it to manual". Where are you located?. Hope to hear of your tuning progress, regards Terry.

Many Thanks Ronnie I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com The auto SPi can be tuned to the same level as the manual SPi the SPi automatic is basically a Metro unit and as such is highly tunable, I quite fancy the idea of an MG Turbo converted to auto.. People that don't understand the SPi often suggest fitting a carb, a carb also means that you will need to rolling road the car afterwards, the SPi is self learning so easier and cheaper to modify As far as the automatic is concerned there are quite a few possibilities for tuning You
