My temperature gauge consistently reads higher than it should. I replaced the gauge and the sending unit and also measure the temperature at the sending unit. Everything is good But it still reads hi. The gas gauge apparently reads okay.It was offices
I looked at the wiring diagram and it shows that the voltage stabilizer is grounded. Well, mine was not connected to the back of the cluster. I connected it to the back and the gauges dropped all the way down.
I've since ordered another Voltage Stabilizer to replace it thinking its bad. Should it be bolted to the back of the cluster for ground? It is wired correctly on the I and B terminals.
Thanks Tom

Hi not sure what car you have but early Minis have the stabilizer bolted to the speedo back which is earthed for the inst lights. Getting the fuel and temp gauge to read correctly is not easy I have had issues with Fords and Hillmans all using Lucas electrics, but persistence will pay off. incorrectly reading gauges is one of my pet hates. its a 76 998. I am also bugged by incorrect gauges. New VS shows up today. I'll check continuity on the ground.
Thanks, Tom
