Hi gang. I have just purchased 3 books on the A. P. Automatic transmission. Two are BLMC Service Notes and one is a BMC Manual. They blew me away when I looked in them. I contacted British Motor Heritage. They have given us the green light for sharing this sort of info. Here is his email: "I’ve indicated, via our agent LMIUK, that you can use this material for circulation within your enthusiast’s groups and not for general commercial gain. We are pretty relaxed about copyright matters when it comes to clubs. And, of course, in many instances where we are looking at such old material it isn’t clear who actually owns the intellectual property or copyright. In that respect, we would not expect that you, personally, are the only one to distribute material within your club.
I believe that the use of old ads from magazines is OK as long as they are cut out of the original and show no reference to the mag itself where the copyright lies with the publishers."Soon as I can manage, I'll be scanning the books for both PDF format and.for burning to CD. I am not allowed to sell them but I will be asking for recovery of costs. Do I have some interested parties?

Further to my first message, I have more general info for the group. I want us all to be within the law so I urge all of you to comply with BMIHT's message below:
Thank you for your query about Service material relating to BMC/British Leyland cars. The copyrights of British Leyland/Rover Group now belong to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust which is the custodian of the historic material relating to these companies. There is no restriction on sharing the information in these documents and we generally have no objection to car enthusiasts engaging in small scale copying for non-commercial use. I regret, however, that we cannot give our permission for this material to be copied into an electronic format and published on the internet.
May I put these notes on CD and make them available free for club members via mail? And may I email them to members in PDF file format?
Yes that is fine as long as they don't go onto a downloadable internet site. I don't want to stop people from sharing information within clubs or with fellow enthusiasts. You should also include an acknowledgement of copyright in the pdf file - 'copyright British Motor Industry Heritage Trust'.

If you are not sure of something you wish to share, please contact Gillian. Thanks.

Well done with this The response from British Motor Heritage is very welcome but tbh it is what we should expect, rather than the abrupt answers / threats of legal action that are received from the current owner of the Mini name! (BMW if that isn't clear enough)

I have the list at home but I will post it here in the next couple days. Then, to be legal, I will send your choices to each of you via a link from a megafile downloader.
Cheers, Mark

Hi
Being relatively new to the AMR I have only just noticed this thread... How do I go about getting the information you have (had?) available?
Could you let me know what I need to do please; I am an avid reader of manuals and guides!
Regards Hannes
