Well, Asterix the clubby arrived last night. I decided that he will be called Asterix.
We had a slight problem as we pushed him off the trailer as the track rod end fell out so we could only steer one wheel, the other had to be "kicked" into the right direction. Well he's here now. I've taken some piccies today and here are a few of them.
He is not a full car as a lot of bits aremissing, like interior side windows, rear screen, fuel tank, carb and manifolds (which I don't need) and boot lid. All readily available
Front view (minus the grille, which is in the car)
O/S front wing needs replacing so I'll probably do both and A panels so I know the front is sound.
Usual rea end problem with rust but nothing too seroius that new corners, boot rail and valance won't fix.
I think the foot wells are basically OK although some numpty has been using a jack under them.
A little bit of rust on the roof but nothing serious.
Nearside sill looks OK but I think the O/Sone will have to come off, I'll probablydoboth so I can have a look underneath and have peace of mind when the new ones go on.
No Manifolds, carb or rockerbox (got spares of all those.)
And finally here he is with the grille popped in. All in all it is in quite good condition for its year and I'm quite plaesed with it. The other good news is he is shod with 175 x 13's. Just needs the rims repolishing.
There will not be many updates for a while, until the Greenie gets finished.
I have managed to buy him a new engine, which I need to collect. It's a 2.0 L Cavalier 130 SRI engine box, drive shafts, subframe exhaust etc. It's all there to drop in and hook up. I has a hotter cam and lightened flywheel too.
