I've been having problems for the last few days where I keep being logged out of this forum and some others, including Ebay. It was giving me a lot of trouble when posting and trying to watch and buy items. After a big of digging around I think that I have tracked the problem down to Internet Explorer 8. I've now installed Mozilla Firefox and use this to browse the internet - the problem is resolved. I thought I'd mention it on here in case anyone else encounters the same problem. Bill Gates has a lot to answer for!

IE8 itself isn't the problem, I use it on several PCs/laptops for this and other forums and Ebay, no issues. I don't know if a Windoze "update" has messed things up, haven't updated mine for a few weeks. It's also possible that deleting your cookies may help.
But all in all my most likely candidate would be the antivirus; they can do weird things (at work the CA antivirus invokes "data execution prevention" and closes IE at random!). My guess too is that you're using Norton?

It might be windows as that did update recently, but then IE8 was only installed recently too. I already tried deleting the cookies but that did not help. I know a few other people have had the same problem too - the fix has always been to switch to another browser.
I use Kaspersky internet protection. It works fine with Firefox and with IE7 on our other computer.

Hiya Sorry to hear you're having problems with logging onto the forum and other sites. I personally wouldn't use IE anyway as it's not as secure as Firefox. I personally would stick with Firefox and see how it goes, you may find that it's a problem with IE and your version of Windows. Just out of interest what OS are you using? Lea

I use Windows Vista on my laptop. This is the one that has been giving us grief. Our other computers running Windows XP and Windows 7 are both fine. Firefox is working well and not giving me any problems so I will stick with it.
