Well around 16 months ago following negative attitudes toward The classic Mini fitted with Automatic Transmission myself and minisniper decided to do something to address the balance
The Mini Forum had promised to give us a dedicated Technical Section for automatic transmission we put out the word and got positive feedback but unfortunately kept stalling and giving excuses and finally offered us a "FAQ" section on their terms and timescales
We told TMF we would start our own site and we were wished well but told we needed luck as there wasn't enough information available or enough interest to start a dedicated site and that such a venture wouldn't survive
If only the TMF Moderator who said that could see the site now he would have to eat his own words ;D
One year on we now have over 300 members, over 700 topics, and over 4000 posts , and we were told there wasn't enough interest and we wouldn't survive
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
The last couple of weeks leading up to launch were hectic and both myself and minisniper were working hard behind the scenes to make sure the site was ready for the November the 1st Launch.
We also sent out literally Thousands of emails to clubs and magazines all over the globe inviting like mined enthusiasts to join
We stayed awake on the night of 31st October 2009 and at midnight A.M.R. went live
In some ways it only seems like yesterday in others it seems much longer than a year ago
I unfortunately no longer have a Mini Automatic anymore but and as a result have taken a back seat somewhat and my thanks go to Lea minisniper and all the A.M.R. staff that continue to give their time and knowledge to the smooth running of the site
I still think we did the right thing though and regardless to whether or not i ever own another Mini or A series Automatic for that matter i will never ever regret starting A.M.R.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lea and all the A.M.R. team for their dedication and hard work, and id like to thank all the members each and every one of you for you input and contributions over the past year which has made A.M.R. the Success it is today
Thank You
Jodie
Please Note
Our Birthday banner will stay on the site throughout November to celebrate our first year
