Hi Guy's and Gal's. Shayne here, but most call me Shrapnel or Shrappy. I had a Riley Elf in my teen-age years (about 25 years ago) and just recently purchased a mini for my wife's ('mione) 40th birthday present next year. She's only had her licence for 1 1/2 years but has often said how she loves the mini's, so for me the hunt was on for a 1971 mini BUT it had to be automatic as she has very little feeling in her left foot so can only drive auto. Spotted this one on TradeMe so I showed it to her . . . hey look , this mini's sky blue with mags babe , "ah ha" . Its a 1971 babe , "really ? ". Yeah babe , and its Auto ! " No Way Show Me" , , , " I LOVE IT " he he he .

1971 Morris Mini Automatic.
Up forsale is my wifes lovely automatic mk3 Mini which i have rebuilt up for her, genuine reason for selling.
This mini is in very tidy conditon for its age, the exterior is all mostly original apart from the 12inch Superlite minilites and Group 2 Cooper works flares.
Features a reconditioned 1300 auto engine that replaced the tired oily 1000cc automatic that this car originally came out with.
Engine was built 2years ago now but has only done about 500kms on it so far.
It was built with brand new oversize pistons, rings, bearings, 1275 GT Crank, 1300 MG Metro Big Valve Head with MG Exhaust & Intake manifolds, HIF44 Carb, Metro Turbo water pump....just to name a few items
Brake system has been overhauled with new cylinders/pads at rear, 4 pot ventilated Metro Disc Brakes on the front with 1275 GT Hubs, Brand new wheel bearings, discs, pads and balljoints.
Full set of new Goodridge braided brake hoses all round.
Also has new battery, later model large fuel tank fitted. Has a Cooper style straight through exhaust with twin silencers.
So we brought it over the phone, on the condition that the gearbox (which was being rebuilt) was done , and that they did'nt send the car to us until they knew it was all good.
Unfortunatly all has not gone to plan , as I was checking engine oil (only day's after taking delivery and having done less than 30k's in it), I found a piece of metal on the dipstick, so [/img]I dropped the oil only to find the magnetic plug was covered in metal, next I removed the oil filter only to find more metal. I spoke to previous owner , and although they rebuilt the gearbox, they did'nt check to see if any of the old gearbox damage had entered the engine oil-way's. I was advised by two different mechanics to fit new filter and oil, run car for another 100k's. Drain oil again and if still looks bad then to pull the motor out. I was really hoping the damage was restricted to very little but less than a 100k's later , , , the crank broke.
So not knowing a lot about mini's, and even less about automatic ones , , , the guys from Minifinity suggested I have a look-see here.
