According to Companies House MRA Engineering went into liquidation on 16th November. The address is the same as MRA Minis I hope the Mini part of the business isn't affected as I've always found Martin very helpful.

I know a bit about this as Joyce is with MRA at the moment; in for a transmission rebuild.
MRA Minis was the trading name of MRA Engineering Ltd. MRA Engineering is in liquidation with fairly extensive debts and a couple of CCJs outstanding. It also appears that there are a number of dissatisfied customers - at least four to my knowledge. These all relate to the mechanical & engineering side of the business (engine & transmission rebuilds etc) rather than the retail sale of parts.
In the last few days it has transpired that Martin has now opened a new limited company and is continuing to trade as MRA Minis.
I spoke to him little over a week ago and he assured me that all of MRA Minis commitments would be met. He also said that Joyce would be completed in 3 weeks (from that date). We shall see.
In the meantime I have to sit tight and wait. Joyce has been there for over 9 weeks already, despite an agreed schedule of 'up to 4 weeks' for the work. Martin has another week and a half of the three weeks left. I will update you all as I learn more.
Until things become clearer I would urge caution to anyone thinking of having any dealings with MRA.

Sad to hear about MRA. Keep us informed of what's happening.

A quick update.
Unfortunately Martin has not delivered on his commitment to have Joyce ready in 3 weeks. In fact we are somewhere over 4 now - 12 weeks in total.
We are now reviewing our options, while continuing to press Martin to get Joyce fixed. We are trying to give Martin every opportunity to get back on his feet but ultimately we need our second car back on the road. We've had to hire cars on a few occasions to cover the gap.
I will keep you all updated. In the meantime I really would not advise anyone to use MRA Minis for anything other than retail sales.

Well, some good news at last. Martin has made good on his promise to honour MRA's work commitments and has completed the automatic transmission overhaul on Joyce. The work has been completed to the same high standards that I had expected based on previous experience. I collected her this afternoon and drove her the 70 miles home. The transmission and engine performed fantastically. gear changes were spot on, smooth and reliable, kickdown operating as it should. Cruised at 60-65 on the A14 and M1 with plenty more to give. Not bad at all for a bog-standard 998. Here's a picture of me and Joyce just before we left: I had a good chat with Martin and am reassured about his intentions and future plans. It's really good to see that he is getting back on his feet following his recent problems. I wish him every success for the future and will most certainly be taking Joyce back when necessary - which hopefully won't be for a little while!

I hope it keeps going well for him. I hope it too. When i was in trouble with my forward clutch pack, Martin was at the other end of the phone helping with suggestions, and he was able to found me some hard spares, promptly sent to me in Italy. To me it was a clear example of honesty and professionality.

That's the sort of people you want to deal with. Specialist components are like that too. They did some work on my engine and only charged for parts, no labour, great guys.

There are few enough people with specialist AP auto knowledge; we have to support them.

Don't know about MRA, no one on TMF has any clue either.
But I have been in touch with a guy who has expansive knowledge of the AP box. He can rebuild, repair, recondition and also modify the boxes to 4 plates instead of 3 and uses uprated kevlar bands in the rebuild.
He's based in Hornchurch, Essex/London.
