Hiya guys I am considering getting a k&n filter for Molly but I have a couple of questions before I do. If I fit a new filter like this one www.minisport.com/acatalog/info_KNN569320.htmlAm I likely to have any problems for example would I need to change any needles/jets? or adjust the carb in anyway? Or would I be better getting the K&N cartridge like this one www.minisport.com/acatalog/info_KNNE2601.html to fit inside my standard filter box? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Minisniper

cone filters, performance wise do the trick nicely but at the same time elements are also pretty good. It depends really as some times you do need to adjust the carb to allow the amount of air intake (as they are performance filters). But im my personal opinion if you want better performance you should go with the cone filter, but for reliablity i would say the element.

The cone filter will make more noise then you are used to, the rep[lacement type is pretty good. To add to flow with the latter, you could drill large ( 19mm) holes in the housing to let more air through. You might be able to adjust the carb a touch to compensaate for the greater airflow.

For a road going car I'd go for the filter element every time the noise from a cone filter is a real pain on longer journeys. If you want extra flow from the standard casing drill the holes as per Emmas post but put them in the front of the casing as this keeps the noise increase to a minimum.

As others have said the filter charger is your best best i did want a pancake filter for Boris Originally but decided against this I want Boris to sound nice with a lurvely Burble This has already been achieved with his new exhaust and to be honest at times thats deafening too so adding more noise would drive me madd Besides Boris being an Injection Mini they don't recommend the Pancake Filter if its an Injection Auto So i for one will be going the Filter Charger replacement Good advice too about drilling your airbox for greater air flow you may want to get an aftermarket exhaust too,but again unless you want to be deafened get a side exit 1 3/4 inch system or 2 inch max Not a centre exit unless you want to go deaf Huggz Jodie
