I've had enough.
My Allegro is for sale, due to lack of temper.
It's a 4 door, in yellow. It's picked up a few marks and dings, and there's some rust bubbles here and there, no huge nasty ones that I can see though.
Needs a front right wheel bearing, a brake master cylinder, and the gearbox sorting out.
The wheel bearing makes very nasty noises.
The brake master seals have gone, it sinks to the boards if pressed gradually. It's actually a tandem cylinder off a Dolomite, teh Allegro one was even worse (and now misplaced). New seals won't fix it though, it already had those on a Dolomite it came frm, to no avail. A Dolomite single circuit master ought to go on, just needs the pipework adapting to suit. That was my plan, but I'm fed up.
The gearbox has only been tested at low speeds around a small industrial estate. That was enough to tell me it's got what I presume to be forward clutch pack issues - It judders if loaded against the brakes (the brakes do work, but are sinky), and I also heard a bit of sqwawk and felt some judder when test driving.
The engine and box had been stood a while, so it might be simply a matter of cleaning it all through, but I no longer care. Too many projects, too little energy or cash any more.
The MOT ran out recently, the car has done maybe 50 miles since the last one, due to the previous gearbox issue. I could be persuaded to put it through another one, but only if the price is right.
Looking for offers around £500 as it stands, there's apparently only 6 of the 1275 auto Allegros left in the UK, making it a very rare sight!
