absolute doddle. We already had a automatic subframe and 2 998s to choose from but we went for a 1275 metro with the park on the gear leaver. Clutch cylinder and pipes removed, red and white wire cut and crimped onto the inhibitor switch, and clutch pedal was cut off until we got a two pedal box to swap it for and almost a days work. We have a hoist in a single garage so it is easy to lift the engine in and out. Job done.

Wasn't there any changes to the sub frame? I always thought a Metro/rover1 engine and gearbox was bigger? and that the sub frame would need adapting? or is the clubby different to a Mini? as far as sub frame and space is concerned.

no there is a subframe for the A series manual and a ever so slightly wider one for the A series auto. You can put a manual into a auto subby but shims are needed between subby and engine mounts. They were new engine mounts we used and a mini auto subframe. The only thing different we used was an aftermarket electronic ignition modual. Quite a nice running engine really on both motorway and town roads.
