Yes, I think so. I don't suppose you will buy one of the oldest but find a quite recent one.

Fast Hattie was my response above clear enough for you ?
I'll try to explain, as yours is a 95 you will need a late type, ie it MUST have A+ type idler bearings as the smaller bearing type would NOT be reliable enough.
You should try to find a late 1275 3 plate type as the 2 plate type will not last long with modern torque and traction etc... if you are still looking for one I have 20+ 1275 autos.

How do tell if the trans is 2 or 3 plate. Did it change a certain year?

How do tell if the trans is 2 or 3 plate. Did it change a certain year? well all later ie 92 onwards would be 3 plate or should be, however there is only one gauranteed method for checking this and that is counting them. All Metro 1275 units had 3 plates, and some 998 metro's also had 3 plates, not many it was something to do with supply of the FCA...

I'm picking up a 92 1275 SPI to swap into my 81. Comes with no head or the injection system. Going to rebuild it before I put it in my car. I should be able to keep up with traffic much better with the extra cc's.

Yuo will want the selector mechanism then as well...also the front subframe

It comes with the selector. And a dash with the 3 clock gauges. I'm hoping to keep my speedo so the miles are correct for the car. Might not get the subframe. I think I can make mine work since I have a torch and a welder. .

Yuo will want the selector mechanism then as well...also the front subframe Could the valve block and front panel from a 998 be fitted to the 1275 box, so to keep the original style " T " bar shifter and not have to modify front subframe. I realise that would mean foregoing the park function.

Might be able to just use the original shifter. No park of course.

Yes you could do that, but it will have to be a later 998 valve block

Why don't you just change the shifter though as park is very useful ?

Doesn't look like I'll have to modify the subframe. The neutral switch looks like it will go below the subframe. Pulled my forward clutch today. Looks like new plates and it has 3.

If the switch clears the subby I will use the other shifter, just awaiting definate confirmation.

You will find it very difficult to drop in the unit without the cut out.

hi can anyone tell me if all auto boxes will fit my 95 mini, thank you 10W-40 MOTORCYCLE JASO MA2 oil. Car motor oil will cause more wear of the clutches and more slippage. The MA2 motorcycle oil has about 3 times the grab as car oil.
