I have a 1275 for sale, engine number 12A2dj35295717 out of an SPI mini or metro. I thought that I had verified this info before but now I can't find it and I don't want to pass on bad info to a buyer. Did all SPI and forward engines come with a Park position on the tranny?
Thanks
Terry

All single point injections had APII Transmissions with a Park Pawl. The APII was designed for the A+ 1275 Metro engines but found their way into Minis when the Minis became all 1275's. I think from 91 onwards you could no longer buy a 998cc only 1275cc. So the AP1 box was dropped and all the Minis then got Metro Units both Engine/Box

I thought that I saw somewhere that this unit was only on the Park optioned trannies. This picture is from my 1275, supposedly 94 SPI mini. I have two other automatic trans, both 998, and neither of them have it.

Don't know what that is? Looks like an Oil Temp or Pressure switch where it is but if its only on later box must be something to do with parking ? Wonder if its the starter inhibitor switch? AP1 had them sticking out the back of the gearshift not sure where they were on the later ones? Looks quite like one ?

Did you mean to say RN1234D to PRN123D. 4 select was removed to make room for P.

Thanks everyone for your responses. The device in the picture is an inhibitor switch. Thank you for the link.

It will not work with any other transmission as the park "wheel" moves the plunger into the switch All API and APII had the inhibitor fitted to the gear change lever (your gear stick) except those with park

Thanks for clearing that up. I was starting to get confused with API and APII. Mine's an APII but the switch is on the selector.
