Hi all,
I'd appreciate your help and opinions...
The petrol cap was prised off my car and the petrol siphoned out. There is some damage to the rear wing where I assume the crowbar or whatever was used.
Does anyone know of a more secure petrol cap than the locking one that came with the car (1996 spi auto Mayfair) or PS is there any way of putting anything in the filler pipe to prevent siphoning and a simple non locking cap to reduce damage?
Cheers
Johnny

Tbh Johnny, your better off having something of medium security, enough to put of kids messing around with bangers(fireworks) but also the determind petrol thief wont destroy your car getting it out as it sounds like they tried.

My thoughts exactly, but am I correct in thinking that it is possible to siphon the petrol through the filler pipe, and is there any way of preventing a tube getting into the fuel tank?
Thanks for your help

Just an idea. If you put some sort of screened device in the bottom of the filler pipe, the would-be bandit can only get his siphon that far and thus never touch the gas. You need to be careful that it is quite coarse in nature or the automatic sensors in the petrol pumps will constantly trigger off.

Good suggestion, although cutting the tank to install something will probably cost more than any gas that can be stolen.

The filler is a separate component. I thought of taking that out and applying a screen on the end of it.
