I found a good place to drill and tap for the oil temperature so I don't have to depend on the idiot light on the dash. Drilled and tapped the front panel.

What oil temperature should we begin to worry it gets too hot? A few weeks ago my coolant got to 220*F (about 10* C) and my trans case was reading 176*F (about 80*C). This was taken with a laser temp gun at the thermostat on the head and the front of the trans case.

Nice one Richard, might have to nick that idea while my front panel is off. Have you a closer pic, also what brand of gauge did you use.

My gauges seem to be no longer available. Maybe a one-time brand "Nitro". somewhere around $5 to $10 each, oil temp, oil pressure, tachometer. One wire to ground, one to the gauge. Here is a pick from the inside.
