Hi Scott, did you find an engine and box in the end?, i bought an engine and box from a fellow mini owner who converted his car to metro turbo spec. I test drove the car which drove perfect and had only passed its mot a week earlier. I eventually stripped it prior to fitting only to find the clutch plates and bands were nearly worn out. If you already got an engine ,you may be better just renewing the consumable internals. Another friend has a 1984 mini city with 18,000 miles and that was suffering flare in 3/4 gear. Buying a used box may be a false economy. I would never do it again, unless there is proof of reconditioning.
