Hi, I am from Cyprus. I just bought 2000 model Automatic Mini from Japan, which is 40th year special edition. So when i bought it it has gearbox problem. It is going back but not going forward. So i dont know the exact problem. Does anybody know the problem? how can i fix it? Please help me to solve it i am realy want to drive it... Last question I have austin metro automatic gearbox which is taking out from 1992 model car. Is it same gearbox with my mini?

No forward movement but have reverse, points to forward clutch assembly, although it could also be the spragg clutch(one way clutch), although that should only be in first. Have you tried 2nd and 3rd gear?. If youve tried all the obvious, checking selector cable for correct adjustment and of course that you have plenty of oil, then its likely to be a gearbox out jobby. Your 92 metro should have the same configuration ,but f/d is likely to be different depending if your mini had 12 or 13 inch wheels. And finally being one of the last jap mini,s might bring other issue as some were a cross of spi/mpi!. Have fun, keep us up to date, regards Terry.

P.s i have first hand experience of stripping down a sweet running auto gearbox(which i,d test driven) only on inspection to find it was within 2-3000 miles of total failure. If you have a gearbox out , strip it down and check, as the internal seals could have hardened.

If your Mini is a 2000 model Year then no as it has a different engine, a quick check is look at the oil pipes on the front that goes between the alternator and starter motor. if the same then possibly yes
