goo.gl/photos/kie9Ct25pXBYRkPG8I'm currently trying to swap a 1989 Austin metro 1275 automatic engine into my 1991 mini city 998 automatic. Front subframe is out the mini as well as both engines. Swapped engine mounts and bell housing over today but when lowering the engine onto the subframe to fasten engine mounts I found the brass part in the enclosed pic (link above) was catching in the subframe preventing mounts on bell housing side to line up, anyone know what it is and how I can alter it? as the 998 engine just has a bolt screwed in the that hole but the metro had this brass part screwed in with a spring in the hole making it extend further.

It's the low pressure valve for the torque converter. Just use the one from your 998. I put a metro engine in my 74 mini over a decade ago. I got it to bolt in. It started leaking on the way home and sprayed oil all over the car following me. Of course that was my wife in her new Focus. I swapped t he valve over from my 998 and worked perfect.
