Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using one of those Hi Torque starter motors, Otto's starter ring is a bit worn and the original starter is struggling at times. These Hi Torque jobbies attack the ring gear from the opposite side from the stock starter which would mean I don't need to change the ring gear, Any comments? Jock

I believe the newer starters have the ring gear in a different spot. I swapped my torque converter with an spi one and had to use the newer starter on it.

That's cool looking lump, makes a carburetted, Dynamo'ed, inertia starter'ed lump look old fashioned which it is. Anyway please keep us informed of your progress. Jock

What can i say, it came along at the right price, plus it saved me a couple of hours stripping down and refurbing one of the standard starters. Overkill really.
