Hi I am currently finishing off a 1993 mini Mayfair automatic and one of the last things to be done is to repair the reverse lights. The thing is I've been told the the switch is on the gearbox but I thought it was on the gearlever as part of the inhibiter which I can't source can help me with this debate as to its location hoping to get the car back on the road in the next couple weeks any pictures would help regards Nigel

Hi It depends on which transmission you have, if it has the selector that has 'P' park on it (very last models made) then the reverse light switch is on the selector and the inhibitor is on the front of the gearbox directly below the oil filter it has a small metal cover over it. If its the usual version I.e it has R,N,1,2,3,D then its combined like RTC1150. Not sure how relevant this is but from the Triumph Stag site but take a look at this:- www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.php?c=viewproduct&pid=1176&cat=16&maincat=3&start=12&sid=sidb7b2f1f7851560a4d39fc09d1b1feb6cIt would appear from what is on LD parts site and I trust him I have used his parts on my Stag that there may be some inferior parts on the market not that that is unusual. Not sure if the RTC1150 is correct one but Lucas Prince of darkness did a lot of part bin supply. I take it that your switch is faulty and not just gummed up with grease and gunk?

All reverse switches are on the selector, if you have the (T)bar shifter with the lift toggle then you have a reverse switch and immobiliser switch, as mentioned above the park type shifter has the immobiliser switch on the front panel of the gearbox. I have a spare couple of switches, what style do you have?.
