This is an original from the beginning. My '69 has it. I do not believe it is compatible with the R-N-1-2-3-D because 4 would then be D.

ALL BMC parts have value in my opinion especially the older ones. These shifters are not often mentioned here but there are plenty of them being used i.e. 1100's and 1300's and pre 70's minis.

These with the rounded handle and the reverse lift tube were used from about 1968/69 on all Minis and 1100/1300's up upto 1973 when the when Mk IIb transmission appeared with the simplified valve chest and the engagement control valves incorporated into the valve chest and pipe chest. The Mk IIb valve chest no longer had the facility to select 4th 'manually'. 1968 and earlier cars did not have the reverse lift tube and it was necessary to lift the selector lever to engage reverse.

You must mean '69 and earlier because mine has to be lifted.

Yes, I think you are right. Probably yours was one of the last to be made like that given the delay between shipping and sale in the USA. I remember seeing new UK 'H' reg (1969-1970) with the lift tube and T bar handle and the plate was then black with white lettering instead of chrome.

The engine/auto box in the pictures is certainly worth something. Is this from a Mini you are working on ?
