Im building a trike using a 1985 998cc A+ automatic engine this motor is stuck in gear but it does run. I have an early 998 cc automatic engine with the hardy spicer type bolt on driveshafts {like a Cooper S}. Can i swap these diffs over and keep my pot joint shafts and disk brakes or will i have to use the earlier type and drum brakes? Many thanks JohnPaul

A number of years ago I was thinking of swapping my Hardy Spicers with pot CV's but was advised against it. Other than not being able to find shafts (rare for my car because they were only built for about 1 year), there was also the issue of the differential shafts and bearings being very slightly different in diameter. I was also told that I could not swap the whole assemblies. The driveshaft splines are a different count also.
