You'll get some good advise on here. First question will usually be what oil did you put in it? Also where are you located?

10-40 is correct, do you know what specification the oil is? Many now use JASO MA2 motorcycle oil which is designed for boxes like the AP.
Is it slipping in all gears or just some of them ?

I see that you are discussing about oil viscosity. Has someone use or recommed using Mini Spares Classic Oil 20W50 High Amount Zinc 1300pm?

20w50 is too thick for our AP boxes

Slipping or "flaring" is a fairly common complaint with AP boxes, I'm afraid you will have to be a bit more specific, slipping in which gears? The right grade of oil does not make a lot of difference, worn clutches and bands will still slip with the right oil. Jock

Mini, I'm in the US and use Lucas 10w40 motorcycle oil. I get it from O'reillys since its cheaper than the other parts stores. I haven't bought any in a year since I'm fixing a ton of rust on my car right now. It was $7.49 a quart.
Where are you located?

Yes, that will do fine. What a lot of people don't understand is that MA2 motorcycle oil has additives to make the clutches grab, whereas automotive oils have additives to make things more slippery. Also, the oil has to displace from the clutches so they can grab, so 20W-50 is too thick, and takes longer to dislike.

Richard, I think we would all appreciate your views on synthetic oil vs organic with both being MA2.
69hcode, I assume you mean US quart which is less than a litre and USD $7.49.

Does it make any difference if it’s part synthetic?

Tarija and Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Synthetics are better for longer drains, or super high temps, but I don't use one in my Mini. Just a good strong MA2.
