I am currently swapping a broken torque converter with one the spares I have but it states that a timing mark has to be set to 3 o'clock before fitting the new one but i cannot see any marks on them as one is rusted and the the other has been painted by previous owner. If anyone could post a picture of theres that has a clearer mark it may help me try and find roughly where about they are.

I'm a little confused, the relationship between timing mark and crank position is set by the stepped thick washer that sits under the T/C centre bolt. The only setting of the T/C is to have the crank in TDC so the "C" washer does not fall out and jam. Jock

cheers Jock thought it looked like a bolt on new T/C straight forward job but the haynes manual said about setting timing marks to 3 o'clock position before fitting new T/C guess i'll just bolt her back up at the weekend when the crankshaft seal has arrived as i might as well cure that little oi;l leak while the T/C is off.

When you say crankshaft seal do you mean the Torque Converter seal? if so it can be tricky, needs to be inserted to the correct depth and it must be square. I made up a tool and it worked great. Lump of square steel, uses the T/C bolt to push in. Jock Attachments:
