Correct badging after I had to get the "." in mini.matic made as they are no longer available As she currently sits on 12inch wheels with Rover hubcaps (just for something different) Now i just have to have a go at replacing the forward clutch which some of the guys on the ausmini website have been kind enough to offer me advice on how to do it and she'll be on the road! Passed all her roadworthy requirements, just have to get it to drive in a forward gear to get it registered. Cannot wait im so excited! I have driven it prior to the gearbox blowing its forward clutch and it was changing gears beautifully in both Drive and all manual gears... will post more as she gets closer to the road.

I have tracked down a mechanic in Melbourne who will replace the forward clutch in Lil Egg! Hes in his late 60s, retired but if I drop off my engine/box he will fix it! Only place in Victoria I could find that would do it. YAY!! Now if I can get the engine/box out over xmas, She should be on the road by end of January! So incredibly excited I could nearly pee my pants!

Well Lil egg is currently back in bare metal. We decided that while the engine is out getting the gearbox fixed, we'd strip it right back and give it a propery going over, found a rust patch about 3cm wide in the front guard that will be welded up and a couple of dents in the rear panels that will be bent back into shape, then we will repaint it back in its original snow white, but in 2k to last a bit longer. will take some photos in the morning and post up.

It has been alot of hardwork, but I'm really going to appreciate it when it gets on the road as this is the first mini I have done properly or not paid someone else to do. Thanks for all the kind words, it sure does help!

Was that a "Gold Seal Engine" or where the Engine in Oz gold? Eitherway it looks Fabb in Gold something a little different from the Norm and really sets off the Engine bay I like it a lot Jodie

Thanks Jodie, at the time (1968) manual mini engines were made in Oz and painted a light greeny gold color. The automatics engines were never made here, but were direct imports from the UK painted in dark green. Once in Oz, they were painted again in this gold color (same as Morris 1100 auto's) to differentiate them from normal mini engines. At least thats what I've been told. I just like the gold color

That's looking really good and should look fantastic when you get the lacquer on. My garage is just as messy but about half the size off your "Shed"

Looking really good. Are you flatting back and then compounding?

yep Clambod, will be flattneing back slightly and compounding. Just thought Id let the paint set a little and start putting in some interior and bits. First time I have attempted anything more than polishing a car, let alone welding and painting so am running off the advise of a retired panel beater because quite frankly, I don't have a clue lol

For someone has does not have a clue you are doing pretty damn good. If the lacquer is 2k don't leave longer than 2 or 3 days as it gets too hard for G3 to get a decent finish, as I found out.

It sure was! even though it broke down twice on the way home from the mechanics (coil lead loose, and then no dashpot oil..) but it was great! after buying it many years ago it really does give you a satisfying feeling to drive it and say "I did this, and now it works!"
