Out this week is the January 2021, edition of Classics Magazine with a new Project Mini.
This being a 1976 Mini Clubman automatic, which is being featured as a double header project series, running alongside a very early BMW MINI One (manual). The Mini Clubman is being featured by Magazine Editor Simon Goldsworthy, whilst the BMW MINI One, is being featured by writer Rob Hawkins.
The Magazine makes for great reading as the Clubman is a very special, original and low mileage example - and great to see an 'automatic Mini' as a mainstream Classic Car Publication's feature car.
I'm sure we will all enjoy seeing how the Mini progresses in forthcoming publications in the year ahead!

Hi Martin,
Not to worry, I'm sure the Mini Clubman project will run for some time so there will be plenty of time yet! It is an amazingly low mileage example and looks very original so it will be interesting to see it evolve as the feature develops.

A quick update on Classic's Monthly Magazine's project Mini Clubman automatic. A YouTube video of the car can be found by searching 'My first drive in a classic Mini' - this being one of the series of Classics World video's. A really great video with some great close up shots of the Clubman together with driving footage.

Listening and watching it appears his kickdown isn't working correctly.

Hi Martin,
What are the most common problems with kickdown faults, does the Clubman appear to be delayed, sluggish or inoperative would you say ?

Hi Martin, What are the most common problems with kickdown faults, does the Clubman appear to be delayed, sluggish or inoperative would you say ? I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com It's changing up too quickly by the sounds of it, not something I can diagnose without the driver and car being present to try out different ideas first. The most common fault has to be the lack of connection.
