Hi, I have a spare box including torque converter but I suspect you are not on the same side of the planet as I (Australia) willing to part with. Jock

Martin. You're ddoing what I had hoped to do 10 yrs ago. Now my hands and shoulders won't work well enough to do it. It might have been a good source for folks in N. America. There are lots of automatic boxes kicking arouund due to the fact that nobody has learned how to maintain them so they were swapped out for standards. Remember, many USA Austin Americas were automatic. There might be a way we could work together collecting them for you. Just a thought.

That would be a great idea, a pallet full at a time has got to be a better option than one at a time, the trouble is like you say not many in the USA that can or will fix the AP1 & 2 units which means we and possibly other companies also ship a unit abroad and then don't get a returned unit to rebuild for the next customer, its a big issue and getting worse, I often have to strip 4 or five units to make one good one Also for some strange reason people want to keep their old transmision.

My idea was to get a stock of used ones to flip. there atr plenty that just get tossed in a corner in the USA.

In the UK some people seem to think they are sitting on a goldmine, I was asked for £300 for one the other day, no engine, no converter, no filter just a transmission, it simply isn't worth it, however because they then go on to sell it as "running" people will pay it as it appears cheap and "hey it's in good working order, isn't it ?" but invariably they get ripped off.
Maybe we should do a "what to look for" article on here, so that people buying used can inspect the unit prior to fitting it ?!

That's a great idea. The Americans often jùst want either scrap price or nothing except shipping cost. I pichked up one for $25 CAD locally.

Hi, I suspect its an early 1100 box, not sure why I think that, the valve block is slightly different from the 998 boxes I have experience with but does not have the extra relay valves. Jock

Jock I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com Is that the engagement control valve body with the extra pipework that makes the insides look more like a petrol refinery ? Sure they only fitted these to 1300 (ADO16 and America) although it may just be semantics, what we call 1100/1300 is known elsewhere as ADO16, Austin America, Vanden Plas etc..

Yes I have seen pictures of these extra valves but never seen one in the flesh. Jock

I sent a rebuilt unit to Belgium a couple of months back, it was for a 1300 (ADO16) and it had the engagement control system, interestingly it was a great concept, but never really took off, now it would be perfect as collectors and enthusiasts take more care and look after the oil more than was done back in the 60's
