Can a small bore block be fitted to a box originally fitted to a large bore block and vice versa? I know there are gear change cable connection changes at the box end, and oil transfer pipe differences.

Yes you can, i have a later 1275 box fitted to my small bore (original 998), you will have issue,s where the 1275 box has the inhibitor on front of box, so you will need the matching shifter.

I guess, if you did,nt want the "park" function you could still use the "T" shifter, with the 998 gearbox front panel.

I like the old 'T' shifter with 1, 2, 3, 4, D because I sometimes like to shift into 4 and keep it from downshifting. Also good for boxes that have flaring until you can fix it because you can manually shift from 3 to 4 when you have reached a higher speed.
