Sooo... have a fresh rebuild in car . Great engine, running sweet reconnected gear selector and setup ignition switch cutout.. perfect : in neutral starts first go .
Oil pressure reads 80ish psi engine side (gauge off the pressure sender hole ) Hookup gearbox oil pressure tested off the filter housing as per manual 80 -140psi depending on revs ..good have pressure
BUT .. absolutely no drive 1,2,3,4,d,or reverse. Not even engaging...not even a hint.
Cable is tight but still selects through all gears... selector moves freely . Cable was setup on Neutral and adjusted correctly.
I’m stumped.
MA2 oil (flamin expensive) oil level correct. Torque converter was rebuilt professionally with new seals Gearbox has new brake bands, forward clutch rebuilt with new plates from UK supplier . New rubber seals and rings through out .
Now i am aware I very likely have stuffed something up in the rebuild ... just trying to figure out what ..
Any questions welcome .. thank you for your input
Simon

After talking to a few, its likely i have damages the a pipe seal or the forward clutch seal as i have reinstalled it . Tricky little thing that forward clutch. It would explain why i have no gears at all . Not even a hint . Good pressure at the filter unfortunately doesn’t mean the oil is getting where it needs to go . Unfortunately it means engine out again.. such a shame .

Hi. Sounds like you sorted it. Where did you get the ma2 oil from ? I’ve searched and only keep finding motorbike oil and what brand did you for ?

Hi, I don't know what age you car is so I may be talking rubbish, we had a similar story some months ago, turned out to be a faulty drive shaft only needs to be one. Jock

Yes it seem in Australia the only option for MA2 is the motorcycle oil. Synthetic or mineral is fine I negotiated at super cheap for about $11 a litre.....still not great when you have to fill 7.5 litres....

Jock Jock its a Morris 1300 And if it were just a driveshaft i would be over the moon....sick of taking this engine out as I have a 67 mini rebuild waiting for attention .... Unfortunately zero drive . Zero engine load . Zero everything. So my best guess is no or low pressure to the drive components. I’d be most happy to be proven wrong haha for the above mentioned reason . S

I had my left drive pop out of the wheel CV fifty + miles from home. Symptoms were nothing more than hearing a smooth transition between gears. Motor ran like the box was in neutral. I found the problem by having my wife hold the brakes and shifting into gear. The free shaft was just turning in the CV boot.

Hi. Sounds like you sorted it. Where did you get the ma2 oil from ? I’ve searched and only keep finding motorbike oil and what brand did you for ? MA2 Oil should not be hard to find or expensive. My wholesale price is the same (+/-) a couple dollars (depending on current costs) as an SP car motor oil of the same viscosity. Millions of motorcycles use it. Amazon US shows anywhere from $5.00 up per quart. I sell it in Bolivia, retail, at just about that after freight and duties from the US. Tarija and Santa Cruz, Bolivia

I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com
So even with the "S" shaped copper pipe fitted incorrectly you would still get reverse, just not very good reverse, this seems more like you have misplaced one of the primary gears.
If however both copper pipes weren't fitted correctly and pressure was lost form these 2 pipes then you wouldn't get any drive in forward or reverse.

I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com PS if the forward clutch seal (which one) was damaged installation the name should give you a clue as to the result of the damage ie you would still have reverse.
