Hi all
Ive purchased a 1970 traveller. Two owner car (both previous were 25 years each) It does have a A+ engine, I wasn't aware at first but can't see it being an issue. I have a decent head (brought on eBay from the man here Limby)
I want to fit a decent exhaust and cam but will stick with the single 1 1/2 inch carb. Probably go 731 type cam and electronic ignition. Any pointers on LCB and kick down bar issues?or any other help
Thanks

Hi Ian, personally i would go with a cooper freeflow manifold on a smallbore rather than Lcb, midrange is supposed to be better and after having an lcb on mine can confirm the clearance is poor and they are prone to leak around the "y" piece. You may need to modify your kickdown rod.

thanks Terry
I'll take that advice. Maybe go Minisport 3 branch instead of LCB. I remember trying to fit an LCB many years ago on a manual. That was a squeeze without the kickdown rod. Still not near fitting the head I got off you. Not done a great seal to the car yet, got it running yesterday and half way through converting it to an alternator at the moment. Not even driven it yet. Would be interested on your insight on what to look for on the gear box when driving. I'm going to have the engine out and check the bores/crank etc, should I do anything with the box anyway just because its out of the car?

I know its the old saying if its not broken dont fix it, but if you have the engine out anyway, i would be tempted to change all the internal rubber seals which harden and lose their effiecency with age. If you know the engines history can help, but even sitting idle in its "old" engine oil can damage the seals, plus it would also be good to check the friction plates too. Feel free to put some photos up to show other members your progress. If you need any spare parts, Martins your man.
