I have noticed that the windshield insert on my 92 Rover Mini Mayfair is turning into a darker, golden-ish, orange-ish color, compared to when I had it last year (please note that this is based on some anecdotal evidence of my own recollection and pictures of the car that I took last year, so I could be totally off-base here ). I looked it up online and saw this windshield insert is made of plastic, so the alleged discoloration couldn't have been due to oxidation, right? Or is it just grime? I tried to use the plastic shine on the surface of the insert and tried to rub it off but it didn't work, still showing this color. What is this? Is it simply an insert of a different color (as supposed to the typical silver/chrome one) fitted by the factory?

Weathered out. It was likely chrome like in the beginning but the weather, sun, hot/cold has faded it to the actual plastic colour underneath. Probably the only thing to do is replace it. Mine is starting to lose its silver appearance too. Mark
