Hello
I have mini mpi japan 1998 1275 cc From the gear knob im trying to change the gear and moving to P,R ,1,2,3 all are ok, unless move it to the last D very hard and not coming i trying to clean inside but not go to D
Do i have to change oil? Or adjust the cable for gear selector

It is most likely the cable adjustment.

If you have a manual you can follow the adjustment procedure for the shifter cable. Likely your problem is this.

Hi, my car has developed a similar issue, its easy to shift from P, R, N, 1 and 2, but 3 and D are really hard to get into. I've had the car up on ramps and disconnected the cable from the triangle pivot and the issue is unfortunately for me inside the gearbox, as the shifter is now easy to move in all positions, but the triangle meets massive resistance moving it by hand from 2 into 3, can't really do it by hand at all. Car drives fine if I force it into D, so there is something wrong with the rod mechanism that goes through the gearbox, I suspect something in the valve body maybe, but what could that be ? Gearbox was rebuilt a couple of years back, and its fine until the last few months and its got worse.
