Thanks Jock, First question, my auto feels rather slow with a top speed of 65 ish, would a stage 1 kit (exhaust, filter etc) make much of a difference? The car has 56k miles.

Is it going through all 4 gears? Sounds like what I had before I fixed the kick-down to allow it to go into 4th

Hi again, 65 sounds a little slow, my slightly warmed over 998 will wind out to a clock 80 if I'm game, I don't know what sort of ignition system your car has but the biggest boost to the way my car went was to put in a programmable ignition system, the Lucas Australian distributors are rubbish, I assume you are aware of your car is going through the gears properly, 65 in 3rd would be noisy, one other possibility is someone may have over adjusted the kick down rod and that would prevent the throttle from going fully open. Have you done the usual tune up checks, ignition timing, compression. Jock

Hi, sorry for the response, she’s going into all gears ok and the kickdown works, it’s got accuspark coil and leads but not sure on the dizzy cap etc. the other thing is that she needs to be warm before you can get any speed out of her.

sounds a little weak carburation wise. does your car have an SU ? a spark plug colour check would be worthwhile. Jock
