I have a 998cc with a stage one kit, I’m looking at upgrading the exhaust as it’s seen better days! Been offered a bargain stainless system from a 1991 1275 SPI I’ve got a 1990 998Cc
Would this exhaust fit or are they different?
Thanks in advance!

It will mostly fit but the downpipe is slightly different for autos and spis mount differently. The problem is it will be too large for a 998 auto, autos need to not have the low end torque reduced which a large exhaust will do. One mini expert near me reckons even for a 1275 auto 1-1/2" is the largest he would go.

6886 please give an expanded explanation. You have me quite curious as to how the exhaust affects it.

6886 please give an expanded explanation. You have me quite curious as to how the exhaust affects it. I can be contacted on martin@kmprecisionengineering.com Flow speed into the engine has a major impact on torque, think "ram jet etc" so at low revs the larger the exhaust the lower the port speed and hence the lower the "low down" torque will be and harder to get off the start line. its why bigger engines make such a massive difference to acceleration, turbo is even better.

I can be contacted on sales@ap2.world I should add that with a turbo, you can hold it at part throttle on the brakes and as the light changes press the throttle more whilst releasing the brakes, you will be astonished at the acceleration Of course the more you hold it on the brakes the more the oil will heat up and may overheat...
