It hasn't been fired up again yet. I was being rushed when I was assembling everything and think I may have installed the top gear cylinder into the housing with the cutaways away from the holes. The manual says "opposite" the holes and as I was being rushed I wasn't thinking about it and believe I installed it so that the cutaways were away 90 degrees from the holes. Would this cause no reverse? Another option I have thought of is the fact that the band relining place might have used material with insufficient thickness. I can be contacted on sales@ap2.world Where did you get your bands from ? and what makes you think they are the wrong thickness ?? So I know what you are asking what page of the workshop manual are you talking about ? They were relined locally and the place has done them before. Based on the questions I believe they asked I am not sure they 100% know what thickness material is needed. It wasn't me organising it. I will find the page.

This is the results of the pressure test.
The first time it goes into reverse the output flanges go in reverse slowly. The second time the flanges move slowly forward.
This is in order of testing: Neutral 80psi Reverse 120psi - output turn in reverse slowly Neutral 80psi 1st 80psi 2nd 80psi 3rd 90psi 4th 80psi Drive 80psi 4th 80psi 3rd 80psi 2nd 80psi 1st 80psi Neutral 80psi Reverse 120psi - output move forwards slowly.

Hi, these pressures look good, by the book, idle speed?, my spare unit does that at idle speed but revving up makes the flanges spin

The torque converter is also leaking around the six bolts. Someone else had previously had all six bolts out at once (I know it was pulled off for an engine rebuild). Not sure if that was the cause but it is definitely leaking out of them now. When I pulled the transmission apart I noticed the converter was oily.

Hi, the fact that you have managed to pull up the 6 bolts means that the internal ring is in place, I believe it has an O ring on its face to seal the bolts, its a cut open job on the converter to access it. There was a guy on this site or it may have been the Austin America site with the same problem, I believe he solved the problem by sealing each bolt. I guess its possible that air may be getting sucked in and ruining the working of the T/C Jock

The no reverse seems to be a spun bush, that part was used from another transmission. Now to see if I can combine the two as the original one has a damaged surface where rhe band runs.

brilliant! care to give a rundown on your findings ? Jock An overview of the rebuild? I guess I can do that sometime, I am just away but can do it when I am back.
