...and a pound of hens teeth puhleez.
;D
I'm looking for a 3.48:1 Auto final drive, as fitted to 64/65 Morris/Austin 1100. Anywhere worldwide!
If you have an early 1100 auto hanging around, please count the teeth! I think they are 21/73 instead of the usual 22/72 but not 100% sure.
Thanks,

What difference will the 1100 final drive make to a 1275 auto I want to know Going from a 3.27 to a 3.48 with the same tyre size gives better acceleration at the expense of a lower top speed and worse fuel economy. But in my case, it would mean I could go to a taller tyre without losing performance. For the unaware, 69-onwards Aussie Mokes run 165R13 or 185/70R13 tyres as standard. Late minis run 145/70R12 - a much smaller diameter. Currently I have to run 175/50R13 or 185/60R13 to get the Auto to accelerate reasonably. These sizes are not easy to get, do not come in "wintertread" or "mud and snow" patterns and sacrifices some ground clearance. I'd like to be able to fit M+S tyres and off-road a bit with the Auto.

Yay, I found one today! One of my auto-loving mates has at least one, and thinks he may have a few more.

I used a calculator to work out what the teeth count should be. The source in this case was an early 66ish Morris 1100S (1275cc) Automatic. The Aus made 1100S was basically a Mk Morris 1100 with a factory fitted 1275 engine and wider wheels, availabel in Auto or Manual. Sort of a poverty pack alternative to the 1300GT, which was never sold in Aus. Cheers,
